How many JDubs would believe this ridiculous statement?
by Sour Grapes ina circuit overseer or a member of the gibbering body is giving a talk about demonism and he says the following, "there was an elder in a congregation in california who let his 8-year-old daughter watch disney movies that involved witches, gremlins, magic, and sorcery.
many may feel that they are harmless movies and are just entertainment.
well, the 8-year-old daughter actually brought a blue smurf doll to the public talk and watchtower study.

If you search the forum, you should be able to find a thread discussing the origin of this ridiculous episode of JW history that I remember from my childhood. Something to do with a supposedly haunted Toys“R”Us store if I remember correctly.

OK what is the deal with Smurfs?

i saw in the 80s kids parents get talked to because of the kids having one or pjs with smurfs on them but other than the urban meme where did this come from?
was there anything printed about it?

Kingdom Hall shot up in Washington state
by Crazyguy ina kingdom hall near a small community called yelm was shot up.
yelm is where two kingdom halls where set on fire about a month ago.
i think someone, exjw, in that area is really pissed off..

Me too, but the people who converted them and the people they converted, went on to damage the lives of their converts and the converts of their converts and many of their family relationships ad infinitum. There were more lives affected by them than there were by the A-Hole who bombed their KH. The bombing just strengthened their resolve.

I Went To My Brother’s Memorial Service at the Kingdom Hall
by minimus ini have to say that the talk was very good.
instead of just repeating a jw manual , the speaker actually spoke about my brother!
there were a few scriptures with the jw hope but 80 % of the talk was actually about the life of my brother.

by Phizzy ini tried searching for this site by entering "jehovahs-witness.com" and this site did not come up on the first page !
it was jw dot org etc all the way down !.
how can we change this ?.

I just Googled for Jehovah's Witnesses and didn't find a hit on us until page 8. I haven't done that for a few years now, but when I first joined we were always near the top of the first page.

My old congregation Auckland New Zealand
by karter inin 1991 we build a 250 seat hall and had 125 publishers so about 175 in attendance and filing fast.. just spoke to someone from my old congregation they now have 50 to 60 publishers and 100 in attendance on a good day.. very few pioneers.. seems this is happening everywhere.. karter..

Do any of the JWs go out door to door with a territory any more?
by Spiral ini actually had a neighbor ask me that the other day (she knows i'm an "ex" jw) and i didn't really know the answer.
i know there's a bit of cart witnessing going on (small town) and a lot of driving around to return visits.. but are they actually doing territory, not-at-homes, all of that?
the neighbor said that eight years ago, when she bought her house, the jws were by "all the time".

I've recently had a couple knock on the door of a neighbor I was visiting, so it's still happening around here. They don't do our street anything like as often as they used to even though imports have increased the size of the local congregation substantially.
My wife is going 'witnessing' tomorrow. What that consists of I won't ask.
If I have any good news, it's that the Mormons seem to a given up recruiting in our area.
